Text: Genesis 37: 5-7: Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. 6 So he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: 7 There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.”
Growing up I had so many dreams and aspirations, firstly I dreamt about being an engineer because my dad’s best friend was an engineer, secondly I dreamt about having my own business (being a boss to a conglomerate) and so on. If you meet a young child who is about 7 years of age and ask her about what he or she will like to become they’ll tell you either a Doctor, a musician, or even the President of their country. I heard a quote sometime ago that “if you stop dreaming you become dead”. Dreams/aspirations is what keeps us going even though you are not were you ought to be but you have this hope within you that you will get there someday. In our text, Joseph dreamt of greatness and it’s no surprise because his father, grandfather and great grandfather were great men. If you surround yourself with greatness you will dream and aspire greatness. If you surround yourself with mediocrity you will not see anything good in yourself. Now is the time to dream big (If your dream doesn’t scare you then you haven’t begun dreaming), where do you want to be by the end of 2017? write down your goals and begin to affirm them daily even when it doesn’t make sense. Confess and meditate God’s word of whatever your dreams and aspirations are and sooner or later you will begin to reap the fruit and benefits.
Prayer point: Father I thank you for making me a great woman by your word, I receive all that you have promised me this year. Grant me the grace not to give up but keep on confessing my blessings until it becomes a reality in Jesus name. Amen
