This may not be an evil day or THE evil day but it may be a hard day. I love the song that says, ‘After you’ve done all that you can, you just stand”. Easier sung than done. Doing nothing is not equal to just standing in armor. But we are called to stand for a reason. We have done something and tried and hoped and prayed and cried and worried and nothing seems to be happening in our favor. At least not on this side of Earth. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. (Isaiah 40:31). Moses said, ‘stand and see the salvation of God’. (Exodus 14: 13). Standing doesn’t mean giving up. Standing is just the beginning.
Perhaps standing means resting and being content in God. Yes we are suited up for battle, but it says, ‘having done all, to stand’. It means we have done something. We have fought but now it is time to be content and rest in God to continue the battle or better yet, to watch Him finish the battle. No soldier keeps fighting without resting. We need to stand.
When we stand, we look into God’s word and we are not swayed by the wiles of Satan. By doing so, we trust God’s word and God’s promise. We need to stand. – Eruore Oboh
